A hydrophilically modified polyol compound comprising from 5 to 11 hydroxy moieties, wherein at least one hydroxy moiety further comprises one or more ethoxy moiety, further comprising an anionic capping unit, a cationic capping unit or a mixture thereof, compositions including the hydrophilically modified polyol compounds and methods of using such compositions for anti-redeposition and hydrophobic soil cleaning benefits.
