ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a support material based on aluminum, which carries a hydrophilic coating which is composed of a polymer of acrylamidoisobutyl- enephosphonic acid, a copolymer of this acid with acry- lamide or salts of the polymers with an at least divalent metal cation. The hydrophilized material is used as a support for light-sensitive substances for the preparation of printing plates.
