Hydrophobic substance adsorbents, which can adsorb efficiently hydrophobic substances, particularly hormone-like acting substances, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, or volatile organic compounds, can desorb such substances easily, and do not suffer from the elution of the substances. Specifically, hydrophobic substance adsorbents, which are made of crosslinked polymers prepared by polymerizing crosslinking monomers selected from among acrylic esters and methacrylic esters.
