Abstract In a hydrostatic control device, particularly steering device there is a metering motor (113) and a flat slide directional valve (137) which, in response to actuation of a control shaft (118) and rotation of the metering motor (113) assumes a neutral position or one of two operating positions. At least the valve element (123) which is primarily moved has on that side (139, 161) where opening are provided for the supply and withdrawal of pressure fluid a high pressure zone (151; 151a) with an associated first throttle gap (153; 153a) and on the opposite side an intermediate pressure zone (157; 157a) which is connected to the first throttle gap and is connected to the low pressure zone by way of an associated second throttle gap (158; 158a). This arrangement can be provided on both sides of the valve element (123). Fig.4.
