Abstract A hydrostatic steering mechanism comprises a control device (1) and a throttle valve (4), particularly a priority valve, in the pump conduit (5). A pressure chamber of this throttle valve (4) is connected to an inlet pressure conduit (29) and the oppositely acting pressure chamber is connected to a conduit (30) which is under load pressure. The inlet pressure conduit (29) comprises a throttling position (31). At the side of the throttling position remote from the pump conduit, the inlet pressure conduit (29) is connected to the motor conduit on the supply side by way of a bridging conduit (33) comprising a pressure reduction valve (32). In this way, one avoids the steering difficulties during over-run operation.
