ABSTRACT In a hydrostatic transmission of the type in which a motor and a variable displacement pump are coupled within a casing, both the motor and the pump are of the radial dis- placement type and each includes two oppositely phased reaction surfaces, so as to enable improved dynamic balance and a simpler and more robust construction. An engine starting function may also be provided.
