Compounds of formula (I), are useful for inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase enzymes in animals, and as such, prevent and treat diseases resulting from the breakdown of connective tissues. Also disclosed are methods for the preparation of such compounds, pharmaceutical compositions including the same, and methods of treating diseases in which matrix metalloproteinases are involved including multiple sclerosis, atherosclerotic plaque rupture, restenosis, aortic aneurysm, heart failure, periodontal disease, corneal ulceration, burns, decubital ulcers, chronic ulcers or wounds, cancer metastasis, tumor angiogenesis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid or osteoarthritis, renal disease, left ventricular dilation, or other autoimmune or inflammatory diseases dependent upon tissue invasion by leukocytes.
L'invention concerne des composés représentés par la formule (I), utiles pour inhiber des enzymes de métalloprotéinases matricielles chez les animaux, et pouvant prévenir et traiter en tant que tels des maladies provoquées par une dégradation des tissus conjonctifs. L'invention concerne également des procédés permettant de préparer ces composés, des compositions pharmaceutiques comprenant lesdits composés, et des techniques de traitement de maladies dans lesquelles sont impliquées les métalloprotéinases matricielles, notamment la sclérose en plaques, la rupture de la plaque athérosclérotique, la resténose, l'anévrisme de l'aorte, l'insuffisance cardiaque, la parodontolyse, l'ulcération de la cornée, les brûlures, les ulcères de décubitus, les blessures ou ulcères chroniques, les métastases cancéreuses, l'angiogénèse tumorale, l'ostéoporose, les rhumatismes ou l'arthrose, les maladies des reins, la dilatation du ventricule gauche, ou d'autres maladies auto-immunes ou inflammatoires dues à l'invasion des tissus par des leucocytes.
