A method is provided for increasing the permeability of skin or mucosal tissue to topically or transdermally administered pharmacologically or cosmeceutically active agents. The method involves use of a specified amount of a hydroxide-releasing agent, the amount optimized to increase the flux of the active agent through a body surface while minimizing the likelihood of skin damage, irritation or sensitization. Topically applied formulations and drug delivery devices employing hydroxide-releasing agents as permeation enhancers are provided as well.
L'invention concerne une méthode destinée à accroître la perméabilite des tissus cutanés ou des muqueuses à des agents actifs d'un point de vue pharmacologique ou cosméceutique administrés par voir topique ou transdermique. Cette méthode consiste à utiliser une quantité spécifique d'un agent de libération d'hydroxyde, cette quantité étant optimisée afin d'augmenter le flux de l'agent actif à travers une surface corporelle tout en minimisant les probabilités de lésions, d'irritation ou de sensibilisation cutanées. L'invention concerne également des formulations appliquées par voie topique et des dispositifs d'administration de médicaments dans lesquels sont utilisés des agents de libération d'hydroxyde comme stimulateurs de perméabilité.
