ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Hydroxyalkane carboxylic acid derivatives of general formula I Image (I), in which n means the numbers 7 to 18, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl group with a maximum of 16 carbon atoms, and optionally an alkylene group with 4 to 8 carbon atoms interrupted by an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom, are useful for the production of pharmaceutical agents for local treatment of diseases of the skin and mucous membranes.
