HYDROXYCHLORIDES OF ALUMINIUM AND METHOD Abstract of the Disclosure The preparation of a material consisting essentially or largely of aluminium hydroxychlorides having the general formula Al2 (OH)xCl6-X' in which X is a value up to 5 or more and obtained by reacting active alumina, secured by partial dehydration of hydrates of alumina, with hydrochloric acid or aluminium chloride in which the active alumina has a specific surface area of at least 200 m2/g.
