The invention concerns the discovery of the surprising and unexpected therapeutic effects of hydroxyl ions. The observed medicinal properties of these ions are both novel and broad in scope. The acute corrosive effects and toxicity of hydroxyl ions on living tissue has previously overwhelmed their therapeutic attributes. Unique hydroxyl ion modulating compounds have been discovered and are within the scope of the invention. When used appropriately as companions with hydroxyl ions, these modulating compounds obviate and attenuate the harmful effects of hydroxyl ions,unmasking and revealing their previously unknown and undemonstratable therapeutic properties. These hydroxyl ion modulating compounds do not significantly interfere with the surprising and unexpected therapeutic benefits of the hydroxyl ions. The novel hydroxyl ion modulating compounds are generally characterized as N,N-disubstituted-aminoacetate salts and substituted N,N-substituted-aminoacetate salts. The invention includes compositions and methods of treatment using hydroxyl ions and the companion hydroxyl ion modulating compounds. These compositions and methods of treatment provide a wide variety of therapeutic effects including dermal effects (such as wound healing), ocular effects, oral therapeutic effects, ear, nose and throat therapeutic effects and internal therapeutic effects. Processes for preparing the present hydroxyl ion modulating components are also disclosed and are within the scope of the present invention.
Cette invention concerne la découverte des effets thérapeutiques surprenants et inattendus des ions hydroxyle. Les propriétés médicinales observées de ces ions sont à la fois nouvelles et étendues. Les effets corrosifs intenses et la forte toxicité des ions hydroxyle sur les tissus vivants avaient jusqu'à présent masqué leurs propriétés thérapeutiques mais on a découvert des composés spécifiques qui modulent les ions hydroxyle et qui font partie de cette invention. Lorsqu'on utilise de manière appropriée ces composés modulant les ions hydroxyle en association avec des ions hydroxyle, ils empêchent et atténuent les effets nocifs des ions hydroxyle, dévoilant et révélant ainsi leurs propriétés thérapeutiques jusqu'alors inconnues et indémontrables. Ces composés modulant les ions hydroxyles n'interfèrent pas significativement avec les effets thérapeutiques bénéfiques inattendus des ions hydroxyle. Les nouveaux composés modulant les ions hydroxyle se présentent généralement sous forme de sels d'aminoacétate à bisubstitution N,N et de sels substitués d'aminoacétate à substitution N,N. Cette invention concerne également des compositions et des procédés de traitement dans lesquels on utilise des ions hydroxyle et les composés associés qui modulent ces ions. Ces compositions et ces procédés produisent une grande diversité d'effets thérapeutiques tels que les effets dermiques (comme la cicatrisation), les effets oculaires, les effets thérapeutiques dans la cavité orale, les effets thérapeutiques dans les oreilles, le nez et la gorge ainsi que les effets thérapeutiques à l'intérieur du corps. Des procédés de préparation des composés modulant les ions hydroxyle de cette invention sont également présentés.
