Novel hydroxylamine derivatives and their use as stabilizers Abstract of the Disclosure Benzylhydroxylamine derivatives of formula I Image (I) wherein n is 1, 2, 3 or 4; R1 is alkyl of 1 to 36 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 5 to 12 carbon atoms, aralkyl of 7 to 9 carbon atoms or said aralkyl substituted by alkyl of 1 to 36 carbon atoms or by -COOT1 where T1 is alkyl of 1 to 36 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 5 to 12 carbon atoms, aralkyl of 7 to 9 carbon atoms or said aralkyl substituted by alkyl of 1 to 36 carbon atoms or is hydrogen, an alkali metal or an ammonium cation; when n is 1, R2 and R1 are identical or different and R2 has the same meanings as listed above for R1 or is hydrogen, an alkali metal or an ammonium cation; when n is 2, R2 is alkylene of 2 to 12 carbon atoms, cycloalkylene of 6 to 10 carbon atoms, arylene of 6 to 10 carbon atoms, alkylene- arylenealkylene of 8 to 10 carbon atoms or Image , or R2 is an alkaline earth metal, when n is 3, R2 is alkanetriyl of 3 to 6 carbon atoms, or Image or when n is 4, R2 is alkanetetrayl of 4 to 6 carbon atoms are effective in stabi- lizing organic materials, in particular polyolefins, against degradation upon high temperature extrusion, exposure to the combustion products of natural gas, gamma irradiation or upon storage for extended periods.
