PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: La présente invention concerne l'hydroxylation de phénols et d'éthers de phénols par le peroxyde d'hydrogène. Plus précisément l'invention consiste en un procédé d'hydroxylation de phénols ou d'éthers de phénols par réaction avec le peroxyde d'hydrogène, caractérisé en ce que l'on opère en présence d'une quantité efficace d'un sel de métal alcalin ou alcalino-terreux d'au moins un acide protonique ayant un pKa dans l'eau inférieur à -0,1; et d'une quantité efficace d'au moins un oxacide du phosphore. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir des rendements d'hydroxylation aussi élevés qu'avec les acides forts, tout en limitant les risques de corrosion de l'appareillage.
