ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure describes a method for dewatering ore concentrates by treating an aqueous ore concentrate prior to filtration with an effective amount of a dewatering agent having the formula Image wherein R is selected from the group consisting of aliphatic radicals containing from about 6 to about 22 carbon atoms, a R1 ? CmH2m ? group wherein R1 is alkoxy containing from 6 to 22 carbon atoms and m is an integer of from 2 to 6, and a Image group, wherein R2 is alkyl containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, x is an integer of from 1 to 10 and each R3 is inde- pendently hydrogen or methyl; and R' is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, and C1-C12 alkoxy. This treatment produces relatively dry, friable solids in conditioned filter cakes thereby facilitating the process of the ore concentrate by conventional methods of material handling.
