ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hydroxyphenyl-butazone derivative of the formula I Image (I) which exhibits a strong anti-inflammatory activity, and wherein n represents an integer of 1 to 14, R1 represents a hydrocarbon group containing 3 to 9 carbon atoms which may be substituted by an oxo group and/or may be interrupted by a group selected from thia groups, sulphinyl groups and sulphonyl groups, and R2 represents a hydrogen, fluorine or chlorine atom, a lower alkyl group or a trifluoromethyl group, is produced for example, by esterfiying a hydroxyphenyl-butazone derivative of the formula (II) Image wherein R1 and R2 have the above meanings, with a compound of the formula XOC(CH2)nCoX (III) in which n has the above meaning and X represents a hydroxyl group, a chlorine atom, a formyloxy group, a trifluoroacetyloxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group or an alkoxy group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
