A device for inhibiting unintentional contact with the tip of a needle (122) that has a wire guide disposed in a lumen thereof. A housing (102) of the device has an interior cavity. A portion of the needle extends through the cavity, and a tip of the needle is located outside of the housing during use of the needle. A pivoting member (110) is located within the cavity, defining a distal opening, and a proxima opening which are sized to allow the needle to pass through the openings. When the needle tip is within the cavity, and the needle is withdrawn from the distal opening of the pivoting member, a spring (126) or a compressible member cants the pivoting member into locking engagement with the needle to prevent further movement of the needle. Alternatively, a spring is in locking engagement with the needle to prevent its further movement.
Cette invention concerne un dispositif destiné à empêcher tout contact accidentel avec la pointe d'une aiguille (122) dont une lumière renferme un fil de guidage (125). Le dispositif comporte un logement (102) avec une cavité (104). Une partie de l'aiguille dépasse dans la cavité, la pointe de l'aiguille sortant du logement pendant l'utilisation de ladite aiguille. Un élément pivotant (110) disposé dans la cavité définit une ouverture distale (118) et une ouverture proximale (114) d'une taille suffisante pour que l'aiguille puisse traverser ces ouvertures. Lorsque la pointe de l'aiguille se trouve à l'intérieur de la cavité et que l'aiguille se trouve en retrait de l'ouverture distale de l'élément pivotant, un ressort (126) ou un élément compressible biaise l'élément pivotant qui bloque et immobilise l'aiguille.
