91-016 HYPODERMIC SYRINGE AND NEEDLE DISPOSAL Abstract of the Disclosure Apparatus is disclosed for safely and simply disposing of hypodermic syringes and other devices including needles. The apparatus preferably includes: (a) a housing or enclosure; (b) microwave generator, (c) microwave absorber, and (d) a syringe receiver heated by the microwave absorber to a temper- ature greater than the melting point of the needle. Other types of heating can also be used. The apparatus is self- contained and can be provided in any desired size.
