A hypoglycemic agent which contains as the active ingredient a compound selected from the group consisting of 24-alkylcholestan-3-ones and 24- alkylcholesten-3-ones (e.g., a 24-alkylcholestan-3-one, 24-alkylcholestmonoen- 3-one, 24-alkylcholestdien-3-one, 24-alkylchloesttrien-3-one, or 24- alkylchloesttetraen-3-one, preferably 5-campesten-3-one). It is usable for mitigating hyperglycemia in diabetes, etc., and is usable as a safe medicine producing no side effects such as hypoglycemia and diarrhea.

L'invention concerne un agent hypoglycémiant qui contient un principe actif sous forme de composé pouvant appartenir aux catégories suivantes: 24-alkylcholestane-3-ones et 24-alkylcholestène-3-ones (par exemple, 24-alkylcholestane-3-one, 24-alkylcholestmonoène-3-one, 24-alkylcholestdiène-3-one, 24-alkylcholesttriène-3-one ou 24-alkylcholesttétraène-3-one, de préférence 5-campestène-3-one).
