ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A latch arm 6 for engaging with a corner portion, etc. of an IC 3 being pivotably supported on a corner portion, etc. of a base member of an IC carrier or IC socket, a spring element 6b being extended from a rear end of the latch arm, the spring element 6b, when the latch arm 6 is pivoted up- wardly to remove engagement, being bent to accumulate resilient force, so that the latch arm 6 is restored in the engaging direction by the reaction, in order to maintain the engagement with the IC 3.
