- 18 - ABSTRACT A sailboard (1) for sailing on snow or ice with a conventional articulated hand held sail means (2,3,15 and 16) mounted on the sailboard has an top side (40) and an underside (41), an upturned bow portion (42), a platform portion (43) and an upturned stern portion (44). The underside has at least one longitudinal runner (45) and preferrably two such runners located sufficiently within and under the perimeter of the top side to provide balanced gliding and to permit the sailboard to be rolled laterally on the outermost of said runner(s) while maneuveuring. Each runner glides longitudinally but has low resistance to lateral slippage except towards the rear of each said runner which is shaped to resist lateral slippage. For ice conditions, a blade is provided. As the sailboard pitches fore and aft the blade pivots to remain flat on the ice.
