ICE DRILLING SYSTEM ABSTRACT A method and apparatus is disclosed for drilling in ice wherein a rotating annular shaped head selectively melts a horizontal path into a large mass of densely packed ice masses such as an iceberg. The drill may be used to split icebergs or to serve as an anchor for a tow line or signal transmitter.
