ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An ice hockey stick includes a handle, a glue block at the lower end of the handle, the handle and the glue block having a longitudinal V-groove at the bottom end, a blade is joined to the glue block and handle by a V-shaped tongue located in the groove, first reinforcing fabric is provided on opposite sides of the blade and second reinforcing fabric is wound around the blade, a plastic resin covers opposite sides of the blade and the reinforcing fabric, at least a portion of the lower edge of the blade covered by the second fabric and the second fabric adjacent such portion of the lower edge are substantially devoid of resin, and a plastic wear strip is embedded in the second fabric adjacent and bonded to the lower edge of the blade, the wear strip being an elongated wear resistant bead for engaging the ice surface.
