A device for resurfacing ice skating rinks. Heat is used to temporarily melt ice and/or snow on the rink surface. When the melt refreezes the surface is smooth. The device has a fuel tank on a rolling or sliding chassis. Heat from burning the fuel melts a thin layer of ice and/or snow on the surface of the rink. The water spreads out and refreezes. There are no tanks or hoses for water, which reduces the overall weight and cost of the device and allows the device to be stored outside in subfreezing temperatures.
