This system provides a way to identify the recording medium or its content in the form of a label inserted in a retaining strip affixed to the recording medium. It also provides a way to switch the write-erase protect feature of the recording medium on and off. The retaining strip or the label may also provide a mean for filing the recording medium, by shape, color or otherwise.
