The present disclosure relates to isolation, identification and application of Shewanella putrefaciens strain LH4:18 that grows, under denitrifying anaerobic conditions, on crude oil as the sole carbon source. This organism assists in oil release from substrate in reservoir simulations when grown on either lactate or peptone as a carbon source. Shewanella putrefaciens strain LH4:18 can be used alone or in concert with other microorganisms to improve oil recovery.

La présente invention concerne lisolation, lidentification et lapplication de la souche LH4:18 de Shewanella putrefaciens qui croît, dans des conditions de dénitrification anaérobie, sur le pétrole brut comme unique source de carbone. Cet organisme aide à la libération de pétrole à partir dun substrat dans des simulations de réservoir lorsquil est cultivé sur du lactate ou sur du peptone. La souche LH4:18 de Shewanella putrefaciens peut être utilisée seule ou en association avec dautres micro-organismes pour améliorer lextraction du pétrole.
