Methods of identifying molecular interactions sites in eukaryotic and prokaryotic nucleic acids, especially RNA, are described. Secondary structural elements are identified from highly conserved sequences. Methods of preparing databases relating to such molecular interaction sites are also provided herein as are databases themselves. Therapeutic, agricultural, industrial, and other applicability results from interaction of such molecular interaction sites with "small" and other molecules.

L'invention concerne des procédés servant à identifier des sites d'interaction moléculaire dans des acides nucléiques eucarytotes et procaryotes, en particulier, l'ARN. Des éléments structuraux secondaires sont identifiés à partir de séquences extrêmement conservées. Elle concerne également des procédés servant à préparer des bases de données relatives à ces sites d'interaction moléculaire, ainsi que ces bases de données elles-mêmes. L'association interactive de ces sites d'interaction moléculaire avec de "petites" molécules ou avec d'autres molécules peut être appliquée, entre autres, à des domaines thérapeutiques, agricoles ou industriels.
