The invention relates to the identification of infectious pathogens, particularly viruses, bacteria and other microor-ganisms. The invention provides a method whereby pathogens of acute infections can be identified, without first culturing them in external nutrient media, by mass spectrometric measurement of their protein profiles obtained from pathogens directly precipitated from body fluid into pellets by centrifuging. With this method, pathogens which cause acute infections can be identified in less than one hour.

La présente invention concerne l'identification d'organismes pathogènes infectieux, en particulier de virus, de bactéries et d'autres micro-organismes. L'invention concerne un procédé grâce auquel des organismes pathogènes à l'origine d'infections aiguës peuvent être identifiés, sans qu'il soit nécessaire de les mettre au préalable en culture dans un milieu nutritif externe, et ce, par des mesures de spectrométrie de masse de leurs profils protéiques obtenus à partir d'organismes pathogènes directement précipités en culots, par centrifugation et depuis un fluide organique. Grâce à ce procédé, les organismes pathogènes à l'origine d'infections aiguës peuvent être identifiés en moins d'une heure.
