The present invention provides isolated peptides relating to the autoimmune diseases pemphigus vulgaris and multiples sclerosis. The peptides relating to pemphigus vulgaris are self epitopes and those relating to multiple sclerosis are foreign antigens derived from human pathogens which are implicated in the aetiology and remissions of the disease. Pharmaceutical preparations for tolerizing and/or immunizing individuals are provided as well as methods relating thereto. Methods are provided for identifying other self and non-self epitopes involved in human autoimmune disease and similar pharmaceutical preparations and methods of use for these epitopes are also provided.
L'invention concerne les peptides isolés intervenant dans les cas d'affections auto-immunes que constituent le pemphigus vulgaire et la schlérose en plaques. Pour le pemphigus vulgaire, les peptides sont des auto-epitopes et, pour la schlérose en plaques, ces peptides sont des antigènes étrangers dérivés des agents pathogènes connus chez l'homme, qui interviennent dans l'éthiologie et la rémission de la maladie. On décrit également des préparations pharmaceutiques qui permettent de produire la tolérance et/ou l'immunisation chez les individus, ainsi que les procédés y relatifs. L'invention concerne également des procédés qui permettent d'identifier d'autres auto-epitopes ou non auto-epitopes intervenant dans les affections auto-immunes chez l'homme et, par ailleurs, un certain nombre de préparations pharmaceutiques analogues et leurs procédés d'utilisation pour les epitopes considérés.
