Procédé d'identification de la nature d'un support magnétisable, à partir de son champ coercitif. Il se caractérise en ce que le support est soumis à l'influence d'un premier champ magnétique continu, avant de déter-miner une première fois le sens de son aimantation rémanente, puis à l'influence d'un second champ magnétique, de même valeur mais de sens opposé, avant de déterminer par une seconde mesure le sens de sa nouvelle aimantation rémanente. Par comparaison du sens des deux aimantations rémanentes on en déduit la nature.du support magnétique. Le procédé permet de détecter les supports d'informations magnétiques frauduleux dans les téléphones publics à cartes magnétiques thermodestructibles.
