In this identification system for a lift installation a lift user (2) carries with him an information transmitter (5). The information transmitter (5) communicates individual data, for example the weight of the lift user (2), to a recognition device (6), which files the data in a data bank (7). Lift users without information transmitters, so-called unauthorised travellers, are detected with the aid of a load- measuring device (4), in that a comparator (8) compares the weight in a lift cage (1) with the weight identified by means of the information transmitter (5). In the case of agreement, the comparator (8) transmits a release signal (FGS) to a lift control, which dispatches the lift cage (1).
