An information monitoring and alert system is provided which registers subscribers and verifiers with a central alert system. The alert system provides an interface for the verifiers to submit queries relating to identification information. Information in this query is compared to the stored data submitted by the subscriber during registration and if a match occurs the subscriber is notified that the identification has been used for a certain purpose. The alert system only stores an encrypted value of the identification with only contact information which is preferably anonymous. Any other information is deleted after registration. The subscriber upon being alerted of the use of the identification is instructed to authorize or reject the transaction pertaining to the query.

L'invention concerne un système d'alerte et de surveillance d'informations qui enregistre des abonnés et des vérificateurs dans un système d'alerte central. Le système d'alerte fournit une interface aux vérificateurs, cette interface permettant de soumettre des demandes relatives aux informations d'identification. Les informations dans une demande sont comparées avec des données stockées soumises par l'abonné pendant l'enregistrement, et en cas de correspondance, l'abonné reçoit une notification indiquant qu'une identification a été utilisée dans un but donné. Le système d'alerte ne stocke qu'une valeur chiffrée de l'identification avec uniquement des informations de contact qui sont de préférence anonymes. Toute autre information est effacée après l'enregistrement. Lors d'une alerte signalant l'utilisation d'une identification, l'abonné reçoit une instruction l'invitant à autoriser ou rejeter la transaction correspondant à la demande.
