ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A variable area venturi carburetor is provided with an idle circuit for supplying fuel to an internal com- bustion engine during idle conditions of the engine. The idle circuit is designed to eliminate fuel supply transition problems encountered with variable area venturi carburetor constructions as engine speed is increased from idle to running speeds. The idle circuit includes an idle port which is positioned adjacent a conventional throttle valve so that vacuum signal is decreased at the idle port as the throttle of the engine opens. Adjustment means are provided to permit adjustment of fluid flow in the idle circuit at idle speeds without affecting operation of a main fuel port of the car- buretor. The idle port is operatively connected to the main fuel port and preferably also is connected to a second fuel source. Fuel for the idle condition of the engine is drawn both from a main fuel supply circuit and the idle circuit.
