ABSTRACT In idler roller assemblies for belt conveyors one race of a bearing is fixed to a support while the other race carries an element engaged by a member of the roller, one of the element and member having a cylindrical projec- tion engaged in a socket in the other. In a previous construction, relative rotation between the element and member was prevented by the engagement of flat surfaces provided on both element and member in the form of a polygonal cross-sectional projection engaging in a comple- mentarily shaped recess. The flat surfaces rock against one another due to engineering tolerances permitting some clearance and initially or after wear "chatter" can reach intolerable levels. According to the present invention the construction has a curved surface on one of the element and member arranged to engage and jam with a part of the other as in a preferred embodiment wherein the element or member having the cylindrical projection has a cylinder portion eccentric to the projection and engaging in a complementary recess in the element or member having the socket. The arrangement being such that an initial relative rotation between the element and member about the axis of the cylindrical projection causes the cylinder portion to jam in the recess to prevent further relative rotation and thus prevent the occurrence of "chatter".
