The invention concerns an iodophor containing a) 20 to 71 wt.% PVP or poly-N-vinylcaprolactam; b) 20 to 71 wt.% dextrin having a dextrose-equivalent value of 2 to 40; c) 6 to 25 wt.% elementary lodine; and d) 3 to 12.5 wt.% iodide ions. The invention further concerns a method for its preparation.
