Ignition systems of the kind used to ignite a difficult-to-ignite fuel oil by using energy stored in a capacitor at a breakdown for creating an ignition arc at the electrodes of a spark plug, designed to preclude interference of contaminants with conduction of an ignition arc across an established current path between the electrodes of the spark plug. An air gap and a sparkplug are connected in series, wherein the sparkplug produces an ignition arc in a fuel to be ignited. A first high voltage power supply develops a first direct current voltage across the capacitor, which is supplied as a voltage across the air gap and the spark plug. A second high voltage power supply supplies a second pulsed voltage across the air gap and the spark plug, wherein thesecond pulsed voltage is substantially higher than the first direct current voltage, and the second pulsedvoltage jumps the gap of the air gap and thus initiates an ignition arc, and the first direct current voltage is current limiting thereby allowing the capacitor voltage to approach zero, and thus allowing the air gap to cease conducting, thereby allowing the cycle to repeat itself. A diode is positioned between the second pulsed voltage and the capacitor of the first high voltage power supply to isolate the capacitor from the second pulsed voltage.
L'invention concerne des systèmes d'allumage du type de ceux utilisés pour allumer dun carburant difficile à allumer utilisant une énergie stockée dans un condensateur lors de la décomposition en vue de la création d'un arc d'allumage au niveau d'électrodes d'une bougie d'allumage, destinées à empêcher l'interférence de contaminants avec la conduction d'un arc d'allumage à travers un trajet de courant établi entre les électrodes de la bougie d'allumage. Un entrefer et une bougie d'allumage sont montés en série, la bougie d'allumage produisant un arc d'allumage dans un carburant à allumer. Une première alimentation haute tension développe une première tension de courant continu à travers le condensateur qui est acheminée sous forme de tension à travers l'entrefer et la bougie d'allumage. Une seconde alimentation haute tension fournit une seconde tension pulsée à travers l'entrefer et la bougie d'allumage, la seconde tension pulsée étant sensiblement supérieure à la première tension de courant continu. La seconde tension pulsée saute l'espace de l'entrefer et commence alors un arc d'allumage, alors que la première tension de courant continu limite le courant, permettant ainsi à la tension du condensateur de se rapprocher d'une valeur nulle, et, de ce fait, permet à l'entrefer d'arrêter la conduction, ce qui entraîne la répétition du cycle. Une diode est placée entre la seconde tension pulsée et le condensateur de la première alimentation haute tension afin d'isoler le condensateur de la seconde tension pulsée.
