ABSTRACT An ileostomy valve for controlling bowel con- tinence. The valve includes a drainage tube having a flexible outer end portion and an inner end portion, securing means carried by the inner end portion for securing the latter to the stoma of a patient deep to the fascia, and means for releasably sealing the outer end portion of the drainage tube. The latter means comprises means carried by the drainage tube for re- leasably retaining the outer end thereof in a collaps- ably folded position along its length to form a water- proof seal.
