The invention relates to embedding data symbols of a data signal into a luminance output of an illumination device. The device includes a controller configured for receiving a first base pattern and a second base pattern within a frame period, and generating a shifted second pattern by phase shifting the second base pattern within the frame period with respect to the first base pattern in response to the data signal such that the data symbols are embedded in the luminance output of the device. The device also includes a first light source configured to generate a first luminance output in response to the first base pattern and a second light source configured to generate a second luminance output in response to the shifted second pattern. The first and second luminance outputs have different output spectra and the luminance output of the illumination device comprises both the first and second luminance outputs. With this approach, the short-time average light output of the illumination device remains constant, decreasing the visible flicker and allowing the use of lower switching frequencies relative to the prior art approaches.
La présente invention concerne l'incorporation de symboles de données dans une sortie de luminance d'un dispositif d'éclairage. Le dispositif comporte un contrôleur configuré pour la réception d'un premier motif de base et un second motif de base à l'intérieur d'une période de trame, et la génération d'un second motif décalé par le décalage du second motif de base à l'intérieur de la période de trame par rapport au premier motif de base en réponse au signal de données de sorte que les symboles de données soient incorporés dans la sortie de luminance du dispositif. Le dispositif comporte également une première source lumineuse configurée pour générer une première sortie de luminance en réponse au premier motif de base et une seconde source lumineuse configurée pour générer une seconde sortie de luminance en réponse au second motif de base décalé. Les première et seconde sorties de luminance présentent des spectres de sortie différents et la sortie de luminance du dispositif d'éclairage comporte les première et seconde sorties de luminance. Grâce à cette technique, la sortie de lumière moyenne de courte durée du dispositif d'éclairage demeure constante, réduisant le clignotement visible et permettant l'utilisation de basses fréquences de commutation par rapport aux techniques de l'art antérieur.
