An image display device comprises transmitting means transmitting image information as an optical image signal; projecting optical means receiving and projecting the optical image signal; display means displaying an image based on the optical image signal and having a surface intercepted by a bottom of the image display device; and a plane mirror reflecting the optical image signal to the display means. At least a part of the transmitting means is in a space defined by linearly connecting a first point present on the basis of the image with a first projected point; a second and third point on said plane mirror with a second projected point; and a third projected point, respectively. The projected points are formed by projecting their respective points to the bottom from the direction normal to the bottom. The second and third points are where light from the previous plane is reflected.
