A video surveillance system (10) has a camera equipped with a fisheye lens (20) having a substantially hemispheric field of view. The system implements operations equivalent to the panning, tilting and zooming of a conventional camera without the use of moving parts. The lens (20) is mounted vertically above a plane under surveillance. The camera produces a fisheye image (14) made up of a plurality of pixels. The fisheye image (14) is distorted due to the properties of the fisheye lens (20). The system corrects the distortion by mapping the pixels of the fisheye image (14) to coordinates produced by selecting a particular part of the fisheye to be viewed.
Un système de surveillance vidéo (10) comprend une caméra équipée d'un objectif oeil-de-poisson (20) offrant un champ de vision pratiquement hémisphérique. Ce système met en oeuvre des opérations équivalentes aux déplacements panoramiques ou en inclinaison et aux variations de focale d'une caméra conventionnelle, sans avoir à utiliser de pièces mobiles. Cet objectif (20) est monté verticalement au-dessus d'un plan à surveiller. Cette caméra produit une image d'oeil-de-poisson, composée d'une pluralité de pixels, qui est déformée à cause des propriétés de l'objectif oeil-de-poisson (20). Le système corrige cette distortion en faisant correspondre les pixels de l'image d'oeil-de-poisson (14) avec des coordonnées produites lors du choix d'une zone particulière de l'image d'oeil-de-poisson à observer.
