IMAGE FORMING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING PROCESS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to an image forming device for forming an image on a sheet like material used in a copying machine and a printer of a computer, a facsimile or the like, in which the printing of the image after the sheet has passed through the printing mechanism is effectively prevented even if the sheet has a size smaller than that previously designated, the image forming device comprising a printer for printing an image on a sheet, a carrier for carrying the sheet to the printer along a carrying path, a detector for detecting a front end of the sheet and provided in the carrying path, a controller for starting a printing operation on the sheet when the front end of the sheet is detected, a detector for detecting a rear end of the sheet and provided in the carrying path, and a con- troller for stopping the printing operation on the sheet when the rear end of the sheet is detected.
