There is disclosed an image processing apparatus capable of reading image and synthesizing it with another standardized image signal supplied from outside and stored in a memory provided in the apparatus. Separate synchronization systems, not synchronized with each other, are synchronized with reading and writing apparatus in respect of the memory, the synchronization system synchronized to writing operations providing synchronization signals for a memory refreshing operation, and having a repetition rate sufficient to provide an adequate refresh rate.
