A method of processing image data representing an image of a scene to generate an estimate of noise present in the image data. The method comprises evaluating a function for different values of said estimate, said function taking as input an estimate of said noise, and determining an estimate of said noise for which said function has an optimum value.

La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé permettant de traiter des données d'image représentant une image d'une scène, afin de générer une estimation du bruit présent dans les données d'image. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à évaluer une fonction pour différentes valeurs de ladite estimation, ladite fonction utilisant comme données d'entrée une estimation dudit bruit, et à déterminer l'estimation dudit bruit pour laquelle ladite fonction présente une valeur optimale.
