15NZ03488 ABSTRACT There is disclosed an image processing apparatus for use as a medical diagnostic imaging system. The apparatus includes an INTEL i860 microprocessor arranged to perform a plurality of pipelined arithmetic operations in parallel on image data in floating point format. The apparatus includes a converter arranged to receive the processed floating point data from the microprocessor and convert same to a form suitable for use by a display device.
