There are described heat-developable photosensitive image-recording elements which have an alkali-generating system incorporated therein. In the alkali- generating system, a slightly water-soluble metal compound is reacted with a salt of 2-hydroxy-pyridine-N-oxide, or its derivatives, in the presence of a fluid such as water, to form an insoluble precipitate and the alkali required for silver image development during processing. The image-recording materials are useful as image-forming materials in thermographic and photothermographic processes.

La présente invention concerne des éléments photosensibles porteurs d'image pouvant être développés à la chaleur dans lesquels a été intégré un système produisant des alcalis. Dans ledit système produisant des alcalis, un composé métallique légèrement soluble dans l'eau est mis à réagir avec un sel de 2-hydroxy-pyridine-N-oxyde ou ses dérivés en présence d'un fluide tel que l'eau, et forme un précipité insoluble et les alcalis nécessaires au développement de l'image argentique au cours du traitement. Les matériaux porteurs d'image sont utiles comme matériaux de formation de l'image dans les processus thermographiques et photothermographiques.
