-1- ABSTRACT A copying system which enables the selection of any portion of an original, the magnification or reduction of the selected portion, and the reproduction of the modified portion at any location on the copy. The system comprises an image input portion for scanning the original, a first memory means for storing the entire image, an image processing portion for selecting a portion of the original image, for magnifying or reducing it, and for determining its position on the final copy, a second memory means for storing the resultant image, and a printing means for printing the image portion on a paper copy or equivalent.
