ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An imaging process utilizing a monolayer of particles which comprise a resin binder particle having attached to its surface an electrically photosensitive material and within or on its surface a particulate dye material. The monolayer is electrostatically charged and sandwiched between a paper substrate and an electrically insulating substrate. With an electrically insulating blocking layer placed between the paper substrate and the adjacent electrode, the sandwich is subjected to an electrical field while exposed to an image- wise pattern of electromagnetic radiation to which at least a portion of the particles of the monolayer are sensitive. The sandwich is separated while subjected to the electrical field to provide an imagewise pattern of the monolayer on each of the paper and electrically insulating substrate The dye particles are then caused to dissolve into the paper substrate to provide a brillant color image.
