ABSTRACT Ribofuranosyl-imidazole derivatives of the general formula Image (I) wherein the symbols R, X, Y and Z have one of the significances given hereinafter under (1)-(5): (1) R : -CH20H, X : H, Y and Z : -C1-4-alkoxy, -NH(C1-7-alkyl), -NH(C2-4- -alkenyl), -NH(C3-6-cycloalkyl), -NH-phenyl lower alkyl or (2) R : -CH2ONO2, X : -NO2, Y and Z : -C1-4-alkoxy, -NH2, -NH(C1-7-alkyl), -NH(C2-4-alkenyl), -NH-(phenyl), lower alkyl -N(N02) (C1-7-alkyl); or (3) R : -COO(C1-4-alkyl), -CONH2, -CONH(C1-4-alkyl), -CONH(C2-4-alkenyl), -CONH(C3-6-cycloalkyl), -CO-Het (Het standing for a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring bound to the carbonyl group via a nitrogen atom), X : H, Y and Z : -NH2, -NH(C1-7-alkyl); or (4) R : -COO(C1-4-alkyl), X : -NO2, one of the symbols Y and Z represents -NH2 and the other represents -NHNO2; or (5) R : -CONH2, -CONH(C1-4-alkyl), -CONH(C5-6-cycloalkyl), X : -NO2, both of the symbols Y and Z represent -NH2, -NH(C1-7-alkyl) or -N(NO2)(C1-7-alkyl) or one of the symbols Y and Z represents -NH2 and the other represents -NHNO2, as well as a process for the manufacture thereof are described. These ribofuranosyl-imidazole derivatives have useful cardiac and circulatory-dynamic properties.
