The present invention relates to imidazole derivatives of the formula Image (I) wherein m and n are respectively an integer from 1 to 3, R1 is a hydrogen atom or an ester residue, and at least one substituent selected from alkyls having 1 to 10 carbon atoms and alkoxys having 1 to 15 carbon atoms may be comprised on the indoline skeleton and their pharmacologically acceptable salts, methods for their production and pharmaceutical use thereof. The imidazole derivatives and their pharmacologically acceptable salts of the invention possess markedly superior pharmacological activities such as inhibitory activities on platelet aggregation and vasodilative activities, etc. due to suppressive activities on lipoperoxide production and inhibitory activities on thromboxane A2 synthase, and low toxicity, and thus, are useful for the prevention and treatment of asthma, thrombosis, embolism, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, cerebral apoplexy, myocardial infarction, dementia, diabetes, and so on.
