The present invention relates to novel imidazolidine derivatives of formula (I), in which A, E, Z, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 have the meanings indicated in the claims. The compounds of formula (I) are valuable pharmaceutical active compounds which are suitable, for example, for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, for example of rheumatoid arthritis, or of allergic diseases. The compounds of the formula (I) are inhibitors of the adhesion and migration of leukoxytes and/or antagonists of the adhesion receptor VLA-4 belonging to teh integrins group. They are generally suitable for teh treatment of diseases which are caused by an undesired extend of leukocyte adhesion and or leukocyte migration or are associated therewith or in which cell-cell or cell-matrix interactions which are based on the interactions of VLA-4 receptors with their ligands play a role. The invention furthermore relates to processes for the preparation of the compounds of formula (I), their use and pharmaceutical preparations which contain compounds of formula (I).

L'invention concerne de nouveaux dérivés d'imidazolidine, leur utilisation et des préparations pharmaceutiques les contenant, notamment des dérivés d'imidazolidine de formule (I) dans laquelle A, E, Z, R1, R2, R3, R4 et R5 sont tels que définis dans les revendications. Les composés de formule (I) sont des composés actifs pharmaceutiques importants qui sont indiqués, par exemple, dans le traitement de maladies inflammatoires, telles que l'arthrite rhumatoïde, ou de maladies allergiques. Les composés de formule (I) sont des inhibiteurs de l'adhésion et de la migration de leucocytes et/ou des antagonistes du récepteur d'adhésion VLA-4 appartenant au groupe des intégrines. Ils sont généralement adéquats dans le traitement de maladies causées par une étendue indésirable d'adhésion de leucocytes et/ou de migration de leucocytes, ou associées à ces dernières ou de maladies dans lesquelles jouent un rôle des interactions cellule-cellule ou cellule-matrice basées sur les interactions de récepteurs VLA-4 avec leurs ligands. L'invention concerne en outre des procédés de préparation des composés de formule (I), leur utilisation et des préparations pharmaceutiques renfermant des composés de formule (I).
