The invention describes novel imidazolone derivatives as well as hydrolyzable esters or ethers of compounds of formula I and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, a process for their manufacture, pharmaceutical compositions and the use of such compounds in medicine (formula I) wherein R1, R2, R3, A and X are as defined in the description. The compounds of formula I are the human immunodeficiency virus reverse transcriptase enzyme which is involved in viral replication. Consequently the compounds of this invention may be advantageously used as therapeutic agents for HIV madiated process.

L'invention concerne de nouveaux dérivés d'imidazolone ainsi que des esters ou éthers hydrolysables de composés représentés par la formule I, ainsi que des sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables de ceux-ci, un procédé de fabrication de ceux-ci, des compositions pharmaceutiques et l'utilisation de tels composés en médecine. Dans la formule I, R?1¿, R?2¿, R?3¿, A et X sont tels que définis dans le descriptif. Les composés représentés par la formule I sont des inhibiteurs de l'enzyme de la transcriptase inverse du virus de l'immunodéficience humaine, laquelle enzyme est impliquée dans la réplication virale. En conséquence, les composés de cette invention peuvent être utilisés de manière avantageuse en tant qu'agents thérapeutiques pour un procédé à médiation par HIV.
